It doesn't matter, PH is relaxed and if you line up next to a GT3 RS in the pit lane it really doesn't matter. Join us smile

I would have been tempted, but none too impressed with the circuit guys, a very uninspiring drive compared to the usual suspects I'm afraid!

Rockingham is a really great track and that's a good price too. Will see if I can get it in my diary!

I quite like Rockingham. I'm there the Sat 18th for a Mazda track day in MX5s and the 3 MPS.

I would love to do this but an auto really is not suited to track work, well apart from the drag strip. I really should get something with a manual grearbox.

105db. That's me out then. Have a great day everyone.
You're kidding... 105db is crazy loud. (They measure it at 75% max revs normally, at 0.5m 45degrees to the exhaust.) My Caterham R500 measured at 95db on the same method at Castle Combe today...
I'm out too. 98db inside the car at idle, over 105db one metre from the tailpipe at idle, over 105db inside and outside at any other throttle level or driving.

And thats before it comes on boost and the screamer pipe starts singing. It's only a 1990 Renault 21 FFS.

I can absolutely vouch for this. I had an absolute BALL in Wales with some of the PH crew and I was, in hardware terms, outclassed so ridiculously it was comical. F360, Atom, V8 Vantage, Supercharged V8 Merc....and a 1990 Renault 21 rofl

Over 105dB inside the car? I hope you wear hearing protection whilst tootling about!

How can you tell that without having driven it? It looks fine to me, high speed bits with concrete wall and then more European flavour for the infield. I think that is a good combination.

I went up there in March for the Toyota Sprint series and had a very good time indeed though came low down in the rankings. It's a very impressive venue.

As for the people who say a VTS or some slow hatchback will be shown up, it's not what you drive, it's how you drive it. When I went to my last track day I was all over a Nissan 370Z in my little Toyota Aygo due to Javalin trackdays making it twisty and my Aygo being modified. Of course he drove his car home where as I managed to barrel roll the Aygo at 65mph and had to go home on the back of the AA truck

Such is life ! biggrin

Andy

PS My wife wasn't very pleased, cough, so you might want to consider track day insurance for what promises a very good PH day out.

Hmmm I need a working trackable car, so I've gotta see if I can get the wedge up and running again. Or... to the classifieds I go!...

60 cars is not "an empty" circuit at all.

Driven it twice and I'd have to agree with Cirvy. However, it's all relative - compared with Oulton, Cadwell etc, it is dull but compared with some other tracks, it's not too bad.

Regarding the noise limit, every time I've been there has not been any static testing so I presume Rockingham operate driveby and possibly only do a static on a car that is tripping the meters while on circuit.

A good circuit IMO and novice friendly because there's plenty of run off for the most part.

I went to a trackday at Rockers with some PH'ers a few weeks ago and they kept me entertained with passenger laps all day smile To the guys who are worried about being shown up by the more expensive cars - really don't worry - when I went, the R8 was getting lapped by an e36 325, and the f360 by a Seat Leon (and the Radicals - absolutely everything got lapped by the Radicals smile )

Tempted to take the Mini but unfortunately I'll be back at big school by then.

Quite right. And the infield part of Rockingham is tight, twisty and not very wide so I reckon it will feel immensly busy in that section. But, it's a pretty good price so why not!

I did Rockingham (with only 10 cars!) two weeks ago. Good fun track but very hard on brakes and front tyres. Especially hard on the latter.
