I went into Hawthorn far too hot and the grass was wet, the rest you can see for yourself.
Luckily the only thing hurt was my pride, had I gone over the barrier into the trees though it could have been a lot worse.
Pleased to see you have got back on the horse, red GT3 looks well. See you on the trackLuckily the only thing hurt was my pride, had I gone over the barrier into the trees though it could have been a lot worse.
Huge sympathy Pete. I can see myself doing that too.
Bought my TVR in May with track days in mind.
First time out handling was atrocious around Cadwell Park. Seriously concerned I was going to do what you did. Didn't seem to bother the GT3RS driver who kept passing me at a zillion leptons. Got the alignment, brakes and tyres sorted the following week.
Next one was on a big wide airfield. Mashed a few cones but was able to relax and find the limits of both the car and the spanner behind the wheel. Seven 360+ spins between two of us in the entire weekend, total car damage = 1 orange cone mark and about 200 stone chips.
So with regret, it's airfields for me for now, or a sub£2k purpose bought shed.......

Thanks for the sympathy, it was emotional at the time, but I wasn't injured and to be fair I had done about 50-60 track days up to that point in all manner of cars and that was only the second proper off, the 1st being a spin on to the grass with no contact on the tyre wall or Armco so all in all st happens, though I haven't done another track day since that one yet.Bought my TVR in May with track days in mind.

There's an airfield one near me (west Norfolk) in April. Operational base, so well swept, and nothing you can hit within 100 metres of the track. Very wide tarmac (140 on the main runway felt like about 60) so just a small risk of rolling it if you go so far off line that you go off the edge onto the grass - all i can say is that nobody rolled or hit anyone else the entire weekend in August, and the cars went from a 90 mph Vauxhall Nova to a 185 mph M5 with no limiter, so no shortage of speed differential.i think to honest it did scare me and I lost my arse hole a bit, but I am planning on getting back out there next season.
I will try to remember to send you the link when it goes live.
Here's a couple in sequence from the 'ring' in 2005
I'm on the ZX10R approaching a left hander with 2 cars ahead
Guess what happens next
The car ahead slows to avoid the spinning 911, I had to sit the bike up and take to the kerbing, safely thankfully but grass tracking at the ring was not my idea of fun
