Just wondering what lap times you have got from your every day road car around Brands, state the car and the best time you have achieved.

Its hard to say as most of the time you are not allowed lap timers on.

2000 Integra DC2 Type R - completely standard road car but with 2 x Ao48's on the front - 1:00.50

I know this as I was using my MR2 racing car on a test day and got bored of it after a while as it felt sluggish so took the road car out for a go to chear myself up and it was immediately quicker.

not sure over a single lap but when sprinting times from a standing start under the control tower, 1 full lap and then back round as far as 1/2 way down the cooper straight is

Standard UKDM integra DC2 - 1:42:14 on Yokohama Parada's
Standard S2000 - 1:38:96 on R888's

Not road cars, but I thought you might be interested in what my three previous racing cars have done round Brands Indy for comparison. These are my best times:

MG Metro (based on a road car, but lowered, stripped out plus full cage, tuned engine to 108bhp, Yoko 48Rs Medium soft, racing pads) - 60.0
Caterham Roadsport A (116bhp 1.6 K series, racing suspension, racing pads - otherwise road standard) - 54.0
1995 Formula Renault - 49.0

This season I'll be in an F4 car, and am hoping to get into the 48s; a 47 is my target.

Just to add to that my racing car lap times (ie REAL lap times using the transponder & beacon)

Nova GTE 750 mc stock hatch 100 bhp, race car with road tyres 1.01.80
MR2 mk2 750mc MR2 series, 170 bhp, road car with a roll cage and 888's 1.01.80 (cold/damp)
Saxo vtr stock hatch 110 bhp, top spec Stock hatch on ao48's 58.60

Hence very impressed my standard DC2 road car on road tyres could do 100.50.

Finding one second round Brands sounds like nothing but is a huge amount.

yes I have driven one of these F4 cars that I mentioned before at another circuit (the ones capable of 0.5-1.0s quicker around Brands than the FR I've been racing), and it was completely different. It accelerated like a rocket and hurt my neck in the fast corners - two things the Renault never did. All that for 0.5-1.0s around Brands!

Getting into the low 54s in a Roadpsort is impressive (a quick look at tsl timing shows what the pole times were). I think I recall a Roadsport in 750MC trim sneaking into the 53s, but don't think anyone in the main series got near that. Tyres different and perhaps certain car specs would make the difference?

CSCC Mag Seven cars (on road tyres) were dipping into the 50s last year. R400's have done 51s. Perhaps the quickest "road tyred" laps?

54 flat in a current spec Roadsport A is impressive - istr the lap record has been a mid 54 for a few years.
My mistake - I shouldn't have added a zero. High 54s I think for my RA. Sorry about that... The other times are bang on because I remember them from competition. My RA was never competitive, so I never paid much attention to the times. I only drove it in a competitive form once, and that was after SPY set it up. Before then it was just a joke!

The 750MC take on a 'Roadsport' is miles away from a current championship car - they should be in 53's all day long.

I think a mid 49 is about as quick as any Caterham will go round on road tyres.
Yes, you're right. Looking back at very old results the quickest 750MC Roadsport Caterhams were well into the 53s.

Towards the end of the R400 Superlight era the cars were doing high 50s and 51s, a couple of the CSCC cars got low 50s last year. A mid 49 would be plenty quick!

The one on your profile? Looks a serious machine, anys specs/threads to look at?

A local chap who was passengering (is that even a word??) at the end of the day when i giving it all, had a good guess of 55-57 secs. Rough guess i know, but he has been in/driven enough to know the difference between 57secs, and 1.07 laugh

Either end of that catagory is fine by me, for a car of limited spec, and my talent...or lack of.
