During the track / test day trying the SR1 Radical, 52 second laps.
I know Radicals can go a lot quicker, but the SR1 is the baby of the range and we had to run the regulation treaded tyres - slicks would take whole seconds off.

I know not a road car, and not a track day (difficult to get a clear lap on a track day anyway), but I'm still buzzing from racing last weekend! I know Radicals can go a lot quicker, but the SR1 is the baby of the range and we had to run the regulation treaded tyres - slicks would take whole seconds off.

59.530 in an BMW 320 (E30) on R888's, stripped and caged with coil overs but standard engine
Pretty respectable time there Andy. Mine was about the same, but my car was a fair bit lighter and had a chunk more power. Mind you, it had to drag me around too! I've changed the suspension to AST and running on R888R's managed a 58.425 yesterday pretty chuffed with that

....Hoping to get under 56s on a warmer track with less traffic. If that doesn't work then a supercharger conversion should see it comfortably under 55s
So after fitting the supercharger, I mamaged a 54.8. Tyres are very worn federal 595's. With some fresh Avon ZZR's I'd like to get into the 53's.

One interesting thing was as you were approaching cars they saw you and pulled out of your way!!!!!!! Probably taking notice during the briefing.

Only been there once on the full GP circuit in a 996 GT3. Fastest lap was a 1.47..not sure how that compares...
Someone told me the GP track is around 60 seconds longer than the Indy for most cars, so if you did a 1.47 then that seems mighty fastEdited by footsoldier on Friday 27th May 23:48

Back in the day (10 years ago) I used to race this bad boy In qualifying 44.6 and 45's in the race not sure I could or would want to do that now with a wife and kids, plus I think it would scare the life out of me
I can't imagine what that must be like to drive. Very painful I guess with the amount of g it'd be pulling in the corners!!! Edited by Chris Sideways on Monday 20th June 21:48
44 sec is an incredibly quick time. Has the pace got quicker since you stopped racing?

It sure was a buzz as i remember we were pulling almost 3G into Paddock Hill ?? And with the short Brands gearing 0 to 100mph was under 5 seconds I don't think they are much quicker if at all now as that series (Brit Sports) finished a couple of years later so the arms race between Jade/Juno etc stopped.I last raced at Brands in 2014 in a Lotus on road tires and low 52's still felt quick
Amazing. 3 g... It must feel so soft going back to a road type car after. I suppose it'd be like driving a go kart with good tyres - an absolute killer on your body lol!Would love to have a go in something like that... One day

that is quick....that's faster than Tom Ingrams Qualifying lap record 47.99s in the BTCC (2016) and Matt Neals Race Record 48.498s (2011) over the 1.21 mile Indy circuit lapEdited by Chris Sideways on Monday 20th June 21:48

Yes the front of the "Brit Sports" field was very quick,as I remember there was a very well tricked out Juno (World Series engine/carbon brakes etc) that was doing mid 43 it's just a shame there was very little onboard stuff back then as id love to watch a few laps of that now the times were even more impressive on the GP layout as they could really use the downforce then, times were around 1.19 in qualifying
