You can, retropsectively (video, data loggers).
That's how I did it. I videoed my laps and timed them in playback after the event.

I managed a 1:03 in my E36 M3 Evo, which I was pleased with. Not particularly fast, but I wanted to be able to drive home after, so I was wary of overcooking it and ending up in the gravel trap.

The Evo was completely standard, on Goodyear Eagle F1's, which had rather a melted look after the track day, with blobs of rubber filling up the grooves!

I was coming in after 4 or 5 laps to let the car cool, but the M3 seemed to be handling it all very well, so I ended up staying out for 30 laps in a single session. I covered about 130 miles round Brands overall, and I still cannot get McLaren into Clarke Curve right. Must try harder. I'm sure if I got that section right, I'd be getting close to a sub- 1 minute lap, which is my personal goal.

It was all fantastic fun, I can't wait to do it again.

Cheers,
Steve

I've just bought myself a digital camera now that the prices have tumbled. I also got a Q-starz GPS data logger as a gift from my Mrs and it seems easy enough to combine the two. It's amazing that all that tech is available for well under £200. I figured that I wanted to learn how to drive properly and this was the easiest way to see where I'm going wrong. It's good fun too!

Good lap!

I imagine I'm a bit down on power compared to you but I still think I should be able to crack 1 minute. I think it's Paddock Hill that I need to get right as I'm a) not exactly sure where I should turn in and b) not consistent enough with my braking point.

Hadn't beaten 1:00 before this year but managed 58.351 in qualifying then 57.451 in the last of our three races in early August. This is a 3.2 Porsche Boxster S in the Toyo BRSCC Porsche Championship. For comparison, the Championship leader Rick Styrin posted 54.331 in qualifying so I've still got a lot of work to do.

Chris.

I'm simply too much of a lump to compete with front runners in the same cars. It's like I'm carrying a passenger.

Just try the regular TDO websites: MSV, Opentrack, Goldtrack, bookatrack, Javelin.

Made some more progress in my 22 year old Datsun ... And then broke the gearbox frown

So happy with the time it did though : 52.8 seconds apparently!

Nissan Skyline R32 GTR 1596 kg with driver (I need to lose weight!)

Over a second quicker, same type of tyres but just a new set (federal RS-R)

Really happy despite breaking it! smile

Hi Martin - good to hear from yousmile
You'll have a blast in your amg - does it have an LSD?
The federals are good initially but my last set went out of shape and shook the car to pieces at high speed. They were only a year and a half old but had done a LOT of track work! And a bit if drifting/sliding about so I suppose expected but there was quite a lot if tread left - they're very hard wearing. Grip levels are good to start with but although difficult to tell seemed to lose their turning ability quickly. I took my M3 to the ring this year running Michelin pilot sport 2 and despite them being worn out they still gripped brilliantly and felt as though they had more grip than my half work federals..
At half the price the federals are very good though and when they're brand new have more grip than a normal road tyre and wear better.. The set I just put on only cost £330 from mytyres.co.uk.
I won't be buying another set though..

What happened with your GTR?

I thought you sold it?

Was such a stunning carsmile

And in grey!! smile
