I've got a second job interview tomorrow after having the first on Tuesday. Do you think they'll notice/it will matter if I'm wearing the same suit? I will change the tie and shirt...

My current and previous jobs have not required me to wear a suit and so I only have one that is respectable. I don't want to spend on a new one just in case I don't get the job. Of course if I get the job then I will have to go shopping!

Can't see it being a problem as long as you're smart & freshly ironed. I've certainly not noticed men in offices changing their suit every day.

Not a problem I doubt, I've never thought of it before, but in current job I wore the same suit 3 times! However one of those interviews was meeting different people.

I interview on a regular basis and it wouldn't bother me. I would be looking to see that you had made an effort and looked presentable, rather than worrying about how many different suits may be in your wardrobe. Lots of people only have one smart suit.

ETA - Good luck in the interview smile

Someone I used to work with ran interviews and wouldn't offer a job to someone who came to the second interview in the same suit as the first. Mind, he was a complete cock and I doubt anybody else would really notice to be honest.

Someone I used to work with would bin all CV's from graduates. I quizzed him about this policy and he gave some crap about all graduates being lazy tossers. I pointed out that he was about the only person in the department without a degree.

He was also a lazy tosser but I thought better of mentioning this at the time smile

Thanks for the replies. It will be the same people conducting the interview but they seemed decent enough so I won't worry about it. Just make sure I'm clean, ironed and smart! smile

The irony about the guy mentioned earlier was that he was a grey suit, black shoes and white socks man!

Is the one suit you have bright yellow or green? If not don't worry about it - suits just tend to blend in, I know my colleagues are wearing them but I have no idea what colour or style they are from one day to the next.

I'm sorry Mr Einstein, much as we appreciate your CV - that relativity thing sounds fascinating, and that E=MC2 stuff could come in useful one day, I'm sure - but I'm afraid we were looking for someone, how shall I put it, a little more creative in their sartorial approach to business.

For that reason we'll be offering the role of Head of Research Physics to that gay chap off 'queer eye for the straight guy'.

If they turn you down partly because you wore the same suit for two interviews, then you probably don't want to work there anyway. Chances are that with a different shirt and tie they will think it is a different suit anyway.

If I interview someone for the second time, I do not remember the clothes, half the time can only just remember the face, or the face does not match the notes and you have got the wrong person back. Having said that most of the people I have employed have ended up being very good.smile

I find it quite difficult to get off the peg stuff that fits nicely, so I tend to buy multiples of the same e.g. 2 jackets and 5 pairs trousers, all exactly the same.

Streuth. Why on earth...

There are some things it's ok to lose out on a job for. This would be one of them.

Same here... I can't remember what shirt I wore a couple of days ago let alone which suit the guy I interviewed was wearing! There tends to be a few things higher up my priority list than what people wear and how often!
