OK mate. If your security check has gone through, you are now eligible to be allocated a place. It's that simple!

Just a waiting game now, the hard stuff is done (as far as the application is concerned wink)

Well done smile

Security check is apparently complete. I haven't been told anything else than that mind...
Found out yesterday it was returned clear biggrin They told me they are now waiting for a place to be allocated. I'm hoping it's within 12 months..

Good luck, it might seem daunting at first going away for so long, but stick with it! It's like no other job, you'll have some amazing times!

Here's a tip, don't get sea sick! Lol.

Take the rough with the smooth. Also, learn to iron to a high standard, wash your own clothes and keep everything spotless. Mum is no longer there to fall back on. You will be using toothpaste to clean marks off walls and cleaning toilets, showers, floors. Expect to be shouted at, even if whatever was fooked up wasn't your fault as your now a team player. And training is all about 'playing the game!'

You'd be surprised how many 'recruits' can't hack the first few weeks as they miss mummy and home too much, and they've never had to lift a finger in their life, so training can be a massive shock for people, but the main fact you nee to realise is real life is not a training environment.

We've just had a new AMM posted in from cosford to my Sqn at Lossie, he can't believe how relaxed it is and how human and approachable us cpl's and sgt's are!

Someone who did their RT 6 months before me has said he has been told he is top of the list and the next planned intake for CIS is May 2013... here's hoping, That sounds about right on the waiting time I have been told, although as I said, he's got 6 months on me.

CTs generally tend to join Raleigh either in May or October.

I've just looked back over the entire thread. Are you looking to join as a Communications Technician as stated on page 1 or as a Communications Information Specialist as stated on page 3?

Oops, didn't notice that... CIS. I think waiting times must be the same or similar, because everything the AFCO tell me ties in with what's been said here.

Disregard what I said about entry dates then-they are only applicable to CTs and not the CIS specialisation.

No worries, I think they must be similar, a guy on the Facebook group has been told May is the next CIS course.

Trust me on this-they are not similar! Good luck though and keep your ears open and your gob shut in Raleigh. Teamwork and all that-there is no I in team but there is a U in Cun... wink . Don't get too down about Collingwood though when you're doing your phase 2 training-it's a means to an end....

If you want to get ahead of the game, buy this ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mavis-Beacon-Teaches-Typin... ) and learn to touchtype. It'll make your life so much more easier.

Cheers! Well CIS waiting times are 24-30 months still apparently, which would put me at mid next year ish so we will see. I've heard about Collingwood, I'm there 4 months. The real fun will start after that I'm sure!

From what I have read a lot of people have completed their RT and have since had to wait for Medicals and The fitness test, I'm applying to go in as an MA I passed my RT 12/09/12 and have my Medicals booked for the 8/10/12.
Does anyone know the rough time for entry as an MA?
I've read some beaches are a lot longer wait but they seem to be ME and warfare!

Someone who uses the same AFCO and did their RT 5 months before me for CIS has got a date of October 2013, I hope I get the same.
