Aside from the freelancers listed on various networks, I thought I'd ask here too. Word of mouth recommendation is often a good place to start!

As per title, looking for a freelance literary editor for a non-fiction draft. Preferably London based.

Thanks

Thanks both, much appreciated. PMs welcome.

Subject matter is the challenges of drug development in the pharmacaeutical / bio-technology industry, specifically in cancer medicine.

It is a first hand account of one specific bio tech and is written by an oncologist (my husband). It is written in a rather unusual style for this subject matter and is very accessible to the lay-person. It is most definitely not a text-book!

He's looking for someone to work really closely with, advise him etc, most of all someone with experience who 'gets him'..... it would be good for him to be able to speak to a couple of people to find the right person.... I'm guessing it's a bit like speed-dating?

Thanks again smile

Would a technical editor be handy? Chap who edits my family's business mag "Pharmacy Management" is a Chief Pharmacist.

Maybe because I am not asking for anything for free?

I am asking for people who have known editor contacts, who would be paid their work. As per original post, prefer personal recommendations rather than simply responding to classifieds on writers forums.

I'm not sure I'd know the answer to that, to be honest Graham, it's at that stage where it's a complete draft. Now needs a fresh pair of (experienced) eyes who can guide on construct, format, language, legal, layout, audience etc.... someone who understands what he's written and can shape it for publisers or self publishing.

Ah probably not then. This is more journal oriented for an existing publication, rather than the fun and games that is getting something published in the first place biggrin

Coincidentally, I'm seeing my old man and Alex (the chap I'm talking about) at a conference next Wednesday. I'll mention it anyway, see if either of them have any recommendations.

(Actually, I wonder if an extract or something would "fit" PM's target audience...)

I would recommend meeting up and seeing if you both would be a good fit. Good chance for a pint too...

Thanks Graham, much appreciated....

I don't think he's ready to publish anything just yet.... but maybe once he's found that special editor to help him?

Thanks also Olivero smile

I must remind myself to properly read instead of scan.

It did say the book was written in an unusual style.

Surprisingly I meant the royal society of chemistry
