Let battle commence
Not the attitude. Did you ignore our advice from before?
I was going to say similar but I held my tongue in the hope that the battle is against the current HR complaint if it goes any further, not against the girl herself...

my advice - document the incident - get the witness statements done - invite her to a meeting/hearing - get it out on the table - IGNORE the BF's e.mail (it doesnt matter) basically - just deal with it immediately and stick all the bumpf in her employee file - chances are you wont hear nofin els bout tit!

LOL

shes looking for an excuse for a tribunal to bolster her earnings and take out agnst against the company where she's clearly not 'welcome'

may also be a bit demob happy.

Smile, yes dear, no dear, three bags full dear. say nothing that can be misinterpreted. Avoid like the plague and do not end up anywhere near her alone.

You know she's cheap trouble, form what you say the rest of the office know she's cheap trouble. She's clearly spoiling for a fight with anyone.... don't let it be you. As said, the entire system is stacked in her favour.

By not reacting to anything (and as you've already 'nibbled' she'll have you down as target number one) you'll annoy her far more than by getting into the confrontation, complaint, tribunal she so clearly wants.

(and on her last day steal her laptop, or similar, so she gets pooped on, by someone else, and you have the pleasure of watching someone else get their hands dirty dealing with the trash)

Avoid this situation like the plague, you can't make things better for yourself only worse.

Let the trash leave and never worry about her again.

Just to add closure to this. We both met together with our line manager today. We both admitted that there were faults on both sides. She didn't want to take any further & infact said that the anyonymous (SP?) person that reported this to HR was "sick". She denies any knowledge of contact with HR.

I apologised, we shook hands (in front of the manager)and that is the end of the matter.

TBH I'm more pissed off with the HR dept for escalating, what turned out to be, an anonymous phone call by someone who is a partner of someone in the office. No complaint was received from the lady I had words with.

FYI I will not be bringing this up with HR as it's just not worth my time & hassle. Sh*t happens.

It's over.

Thanks for the advice & support. You know who you are.

I doubt the mods will close the thread, but I'll just stay this.

Employment Law is always stacked in favour of the trouble makers.

I've had first hand experience of similar situations and it never works out in your favour as the innocent party. The stty people within our society know how to use the law to their full advantage, just a fact of life.
