Investment Bank Interview - What to wear?
Discussion
Hi all,
Have an interview for M&A at a major investment bank on Wednesday.
My initial thoughts were navy suit (it has to be this as all the rest are not at uni), black Oxford shoes (ditto), light blue shirt and red tie.
What I'm worried about is the shirt/tie combination. Is that okay, or a bit too try-hard? I also have a white shirt and could couple with any other colour of tie so just looking for suggestions.
Thanks!
HH

Reds controversial you know. Guess it depends where your bullstometer sits on it
'Red is not recommended as a choice to wear to an interview. The reason is because red evokes emotions more than any other color. It is not a good choice when you want to project a calm, cool exterior. Avoid wearing yellow or orange to an interview for the same reason'
'Blue is one the best choices to wear to an interview. Blue causes its wearer to seem authoritative. At the same time, wearing the color blue makes a person seem trustworthy.'

White shirt and blue tie it is, thanks!
With sober, non-glint cufflinks (glinting can annoy interviewer), non-digital watch (it will go off during the interview!), dark long socks (so no skin shows if trouser leg rides up), highly polished shoes, including welts and heels, collar stays in shirt, etc, etc, etc! Good luck!Funk said:
You'll never go wrong with a nice white shirt.
Until you have the strawberry sorbet between the starter and main course on the monthly lunch out...Ergo, always have a spare, pressed shirt at the office (or know where your nearest shop is!).
So on your way to the interview...NIL BY MOUTH!

Best of luck matey, hope it went well... was it for a graduate role? Got something similar coming up myself, would be interested to know how you got on!
Hi mate, went quite well but unfortunately didn't get the job... Drop me a PM and I can give you a few more deets if you want.Gassing Station | Jobs & Employment Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
