On Wednesday night I left my car tucked away (out of public sight) outside, took a loan car home as on Thursday morning I was leaving straight from home in the early hours to go on a 2 day course for work.

Yesterday (Friday 21st) on the way home I got a phone call from my workshop controller telling me that 4 cars going broken into and things taken,

3 sales cars, which left one car completely stripped and my car.

I went straight to work on the way home thinking it was a joke but no.

Now on my car the rear windown was smashed, and body work damaged, interior trim damaged and miss, amp, sub, trainers, ipod and a watch taken from inside.

So I moved my car into the workshop last night, spoke to the dealer principle and he believes that im not covered under works insurance and that I should call mine asap and get it sorted, but to me thats not correct, as i was away on works duty.

Can anyonw give tips or ideas on how i can proceed please.

Hmmm tricky one. Legaly your boss has no duty of care to keep your car safe when you leave it at work.

Depending on their policy wording it may be classed as "goods in trust" but contents of vehicles is usually limited to 200 quid.

Your own car insurance should cover the window, stereo and up to around 200 of contents.

Realistically you've been a victim of crime as well as your boss. I know it's not your fault, and probably not what you wanted to hear.

I think you'll find your own insurance is first in the queue legally. Maybe your insurance company will sue your employers insurance company..... But I doubt it.

Many years ago, well those gales of 1987 I think the year was, The day after of the 600 people who worked at the factory I worked at about 30 people got in, me being one of them.
Late in the morning a tree in the yard fell onto my 3 year old Golf (Big Tree!!!)
My insurance would have covered it, The company's insurance would not, I looked after the company insurance.

But My company paid up as a thank you.
