Phoned in sick today
Discussion
Having been on PH a while, allow me to condense the next 10 pages for you;
"Not had a day off in 25 years of working"
"6 months with a back problem, 3 months after broke my knee"
"Unless you're on death's door, you should go to work"
"I don't want you in an office all snotty and spreading germs - stay at home".

Can't remember the last time I was ill enough to have a full day off.
Probably have a late start once or twice a month, normally when a nice cold has been combined with kids waking in the night. Far more productive to rest a bit and start refreshed at 10 than drag myself in at 8 and sit there for hours doing nothing.

I had some time off last year i think...
9 times out of 10 i'm feeling better after im out of bed and had a shower and i just end up being bored at home for a day while my workload backs up and my colleagues get pissed off as they have to cover for me.
My stance is to go in and make the effort, then if you feel like st after lunch ask your manager for the afternoon off. At least then you have tried, and shown your manager you arent a hypochodriac.
That way there is less scrutiny for sickness in the future and your boss thinks more highly of you.

Think the last time I had a day off was when I was in Year 9 at school about 2007. Only reason for that was spent the easter 2 weeks in Florida, came back the Sunday but the Monday hit me with Jetlag bigtime, I seriously would have just been a drip if id gone in that day. So didnt bother going. After that, only time was one afternoon I came home from college early just before christmas last year because I had this dreadful cold and I just felt like absolute ste.
I've had more days off sick this year than ever before; probably about 7 or 8. Its also one of the only years I can remember that I've had more than one day off consecutively. I blame all this on having my son (a toddler) running around picking up and incubating illnesses, whilst all the time acting as an agent of insomnia.
