That'd be annoying wouldn't it - get to follow F1 around the world but without actually seeing any of the racing.....

st yeah! Why is there NO opportunity to view? It sounds like they don't want you watching. What are you going to do? fk off to a shanty town for four nights???

I get that one would be expected not to be standing gawping in the back of the garage while the clear up operation is going on, but not even to sit on the grass during free practice?? That totally sucks!

Whether you can take a sneaky 5 mins or not it's hardly surprising that they would put that on the job advert, to avoid getting tons of enquiries from bored guys who fancy getting paid to watch F1!

I seem to remember watching the Stobart program on TV which featured a bit about the guys supporting the Ford rally team.

IIRC, they were involved with all the hospitality stuff when they weren't driving - setting up marquees, cooking, washing up etc.

So I guess it's possible they might have similar duties when they aren't driving and hence won't get to watch anything?!

No doubt you will get a BBC feed on the television in the hospitality and you know watching it on tv is better than being in the stands. Plus being on site you get atmosphere too.

We at Lotus Renault take approximately 65 people to each race, to be honest very few of them "view" the race. Most are backstage in the hospitality, or in the back of the garage. I spent my whole race attendance watching the race on the BBC in the back of one of the office trucks.
Its not all glamour..............

I have had a couple of seasons crewing on an FIA Pro Mod team (drag racing) doing the whole European tour, it is hard work, unsociable hours & you rarely get to see much racing (other than our own car) unless you fail to qualify. Everyone I know thinks it must be fantastic, travelling around race tracks at the pinnacle of our chosen sport, but the reality is you spend a lot of time on planes & driving rental cars, with the rest spent getting dirty, would I do it any other way? Absolutely not!

Huxley phoned me up the other day about a contract position. I'm civil, but I have no expectation that they actually have a position.

And they all seemed to be enjoying their jobs and their role in the team. Seemed like quite a satisfying (if long hours) sort of job.
