Sorry to hear about this Op, not a nice situation!
On an aside, what did your original company think about you taking a client list with you, I thought in some industries that those sort of things was protected etc, and in some cases remain the property of your employer etc?
Happened to me yrs back, was offered a sales job, silly high basic, leads supplied, company car, minimal targets etc!
Went on a "training" course, excellent hotel, all expenses paid, entertainment laid on each night, ie bowling, theatre trip, good restarants etc, was about 15 of us on the course!
Transpires, that the owner was in the process of finalising a deal to sell said company to one of the large household names in the utility industry, so 3 months down the line we all had to reapply for our jobs with a new employer, basic was more than halved, commision cut, and company cars taken away etc!
Most of us turned the new package down, and settles for a "package" to make us go away, seem to remember it was about 6mths salery.
The amusing thing was they completely forgot about the company car, it was a bloody awful Citeron C5, brand new, it sat in my driveway for about 6 mths, I used it on occasion, but never liked it!
In the end, I rang the company responsible, as I was moving house, and reminded them, it all went quiet down the phone, followed by the immortal words " Whoops!"
They collected a few days later!
