CV friendly term for 'petrol-head'...
Discussion
Have important job application coming up and I need to update my CV so I'm looking for a CV friendly term for 'petrol-head' and would like to enlist the help of the pistonheads collective conciousness.
I've thought about 'motorsport' but it just doesn't fit the bill since I don't race.
Automotive engineering again doesn't work... sounds overly middle-aged and too oilcovered overallish
I need a snappy description which makes the whole thing sound fun and exciting but which doesn't bring to mind a car obsessed teenaged boyracer with an overly body-kitted hatchback.

Car hooligan...
Indeed. If the interviewer says, "So your CV says you're a car xyz... tell me more?" and you reply by saying how you enjoy tuning the car for more power and going for drives, then he'll translate that as "max power hooligan who likes to rag his car around city centres".So what exactly is your interest in cars? Attending meets is no better. He will think "Halfords car park".

Car enthusiast?
I thought about that as well... cars do enthuse me... but would like to sound a little more dynamic... The job I will be applying for is occasionally adrenaline fulled (and also will at some point involve administering adrenaline!) so would like to evoke that I would be capable of competantly driving something quick around a track rather than than being sat at home watching F1 and TopGear etc etc...

If you've done track days, put motorsport enthusiast and mention that you've participated in track days. The job I will be applying for is occasionally adrenaline fulled (and also will at some point involve administering adrenaline!) so would like to evoke that I would be capable of competantly driving something quick around a track rather than than being sat at home watching F1 and TopGear etc etc...

Yes it's this kind of mental immagery I want to avoid creating in the interview pannel members minds... however if they read the demographics section properly they should notice than I am youngish and also female
They may come to the conclusion that "female" is less a statement of fact and more a long-term ambition.Yes it's this kind of mental immagery I want to avoid creating in the interview pannel members minds... however if they read the demographics section properly they should notice than I am youngish and also female
I wouldn't put any of my external interests on a CV, tbh.
