Issues with Umbrella company

Am about to change contracts and my new employers does not want me to use my current umbrella company which I am happy with, as I have never been too impressed with them. They do not appear to be looking after my interests, but that is an aside.
Dropped them an email last night to to tell them that I no longer wish to use their services and got an email back saying that they tried to call my mobile (which is at home as I am away on hols for the weekend ), could not get an answer and cannot therefore terminate my contract until they conduct an exit interview, and even then, the want 1 months notice. It has been evident by the fact my contract has been extended for short periods of time recently that the contract was coming to an end. Can they hold me to 1 months notice? This will obviously have issues for me from a tax point of view as they will not release my P45 until the end of my notice period.

Is this sort of behaviour usual with umbrella companies?

I can't see how they can hold you to this just fill out a P46 for your new company and be done with them.

I use Danbro and have been Very happy with their umbrella service

Never had this before, they are usually pretty efficient.

Another +1 for Danbro, quality service all round.
