I'm mulling whether to keep my LinkedIn account alive. Being as I can't make a decision without the input of a load of psychotic randoms off the internet, I thought I'd ask PH what they think of LinkedIn.
I think it's basically where people go to lie about how their mundane ghastly job is actually really brilliant and important and exciting.
I know I do.
You?

The only social network I use is linkedin.
I've had a couple of good job prospects from it and although I didn't pursue them I'd not have been in the loop had it not been for my profile.
Likewise. Useful to keep in touch with old colleagues and it's very visible to recruiters. HAve been approached a couple of times so well worthwhile IMO.I've had a couple of good job prospects from it and although I didn't pursue them I'd not have been in the loop had it not been for my profile.
No time for facebook etc but LinkedIn is worthwhile.

I think somewhere in between "st" and "brilliant." It's useful for making first contact, and for getting an idea of people's background. A lot of headhunters seem to think it's the only place in the world to find people.
+1 seems to generate the odd enquiry for possible jobs, in fact i was contacted this week out of the blue by the recruitment team of a great company, so fingers crossed that comes off.I've just spent some time bringing my profile bang up to date and have managed to secure some nice recommendations too... I've got the time to do this as I'm currently "tending to the garden"..
Whether it'll bring any returns, however, is another story entirely.. Maybe I'll check back in and let you know...

Sometimes simply just clicking somebody's profile is enough if you set your account to leave a footprint. Then you will show up in 'who viewed my profile'. Assuming the person you clicked is active enough and vain enough to look at this bit they may click back through to your profile if their curiosity is pique.
