I'm currently making scintillators for a near and intermediate range order defractometer on a neutron beam line.

There's several other neutron beamlines around the world but I'm not sure how many have a 'NIMROD' and we are being requested to do further work for other countries. So the signs point towards us being one of the few workshops in the world producing these things. Theres 3 of us here.

depends how you look at it really. i'm senior product design engineer [R&D] for my company i'm sure there are hundreds of thousands of those globally. if i were to get picky about it and focus on specific products, that would cut it down to a few hundred. then again, any competent mech. biased engineer could do my job.

i used to do a very boring job where with maybe a dozen people in the uk in that role, but again if i defined my role by my specific area of competence it would have been 3. lots of money to be made in that field but dull as fk.

Ok, so who has the most exclusive job on PH? How many people in the world do you reckon are doing a similar job to yourself, right now? Not who would be capable with a bit of re-training, or how many have done it in the past.

Does anyone work in such a specialised field that they are in single figures?
Probably 5-10.

Probably a few hundred people in the world have the specialist knowledge that I have and are able to make the chemicals I can make.
... Osama?
No. I think he's called Danny. When he spikes someone, they know they've been spoken to.

Jobwise, I mostly drink coffee with farmers. Pretty much anyone could do that.
