Project Management Contract Work

Having now accumulated over 10 years’ experience, a couple of relevant degrees, an APM qualification and being a Registered Prince 2 Practitioner, I’m looking at taking the leap, setting up a limited company, and having a go at contracting.

My background predominantly relates to client side FM / fit out / construction / relocation type works but I also have experience of business change projects.

I’ll be firing out emails to people I have worked with in the past, but wondered if anyone could recommend any websites / agencies it would be worth approaching regarding potential contracts.

I’m a regular on the obvious sites like Reed, Jobsite, CV library and Monster but they seem to predominantly deal with permanent roles.

Any guidance / suggestions would be appreciated.

Whilst they do indeed deal mainly in perms; they also cover temps/interims & maternity cover etc, so still worth keeping an eye on. Plus, whilst organisation may indeed be looking for a perm, if you look like you'd be a strategic fit then it would cost nought to make an approach from a contractor perspective and as it's something many may not have considered, they may do after your approach, particularly if they're struggling to recruit or you feel you can make an offer they can't refuse! Checked that out but its massively IT biased (over 100 times as many IT jobs as construction jobs)and the construction jobs available are predominantely labouring / site manager roles.

Jobserve.co.uk - again IT biased but then that's the nature of the contract employment market. There are lots more contract IT roles than others sectors out there.

I work in IT / business change so can recommend a couple of agents to try. I don't think they recruit for FM contracts, they're mainly business change / IT so best to present yourself in that arena if you can.
