Hi all,

A little background about myself. I'm a time served electrician, worked on a variety of different sites and jobs ( schools, factories, shops, houses, etc ) and now I work in the oil and gas industry, maintaining Ex rated equipment.

At the moment I'm about to finish an HNC Electrical Engineering in June and am considering starting a degree in this, hopefully to get into electrical engineering in oil and gas ( preferably ). I was looking through the IET website and looked into the EngTech qualification, thinking it may be a good thing to have. So, has anyone got this accreditation and has it helped you in your career?

Thanks

Who me ?

Never tried, so can't comment. I'm eligible for Inc Eng ,at the least, but it would only look good on a CV/job application . My way round it was to add it in the "Professional qualifications " bit on any application form as "eligible to apply for IEEE Inc Eng membership"

Is there any reason why you haven't went for membership? Surely it would give you an advantage over others with similar experience?
