in all seriousness I’ve read "THE" book, read through similar threads on a number of forums, but still think there would be a advantage to sharing theories/tips on the application, if you have a email address i could use and you wouldn’t mind me briefly running a few questions passed you would be brilliant
cheers

It's worth noting though that if you sat the exams and passed with another company before the change to the new tests then it almost certainly wont be valid for DBS as they also did 2 other tests (a literacy and numeracy IIRC), as a result the only option is to sit the new tests to apply for them which if you fail means your previous pass is also void.http://www.rail.dbschenker.co.uk/careers/Trainee-T...
When i applied they wanted people to start in february but as i took my tests with freightliner in august i couldn't re-sit before march and also the risk of failing no matter how small seemed like it wasn't worth it whilst my current pass is valid with everyone but them.
The other minor irritant is that they wouldn't let me pay to do the old tests or supply proof of my abilities via exam certificates

Random question for those that have just done their safety critical medical (& apologies if it has been asked ready), did they do a booze/drug test using a blood test or did you piss in a pot?
I seem to think it was a blood test but i've just had a drug and alcohol medical (not for railway) and they said they could find everything they need to in some urine.
Cheers!

Feel free to drop me a line, use the pm way. I'll help where I can, but I think I have been just very lucky. I didn't read up on anything, or know anything about trains.
On the other question. I was in the RAF before getting this job. I think being ex-military has helped, for sure, they seem to value the experiences you have had. Especially for all the stuff they are looking for: shift work, concentrating for long periods, difficult situations, rule following and communication.
