Same here.
Playing the waiting game now, not expecting anything anytime soon though!
Which depot? I've gone for Bristol but have a commuting distance of 38 miles from Cardiff so I hope that doesn't count too much against me.Playing the waiting game now, not expecting anything anytime soon though!
Have read on the rail forums that testing will start in September with successful applicants beginning training in January.
Currently relatively happily employed as a bus driver so don't mind the waiting, although this would be a great step up for me in more ways than one :-)

I'm South Wales too but a little closer to the bridge. Don't think it'd be too much of a hindrance, 38miles isn't all that far.
Good luck!

Very short application form so I guess they're sifting based on a small number of criteria, that is the only one that i'm worried about as my current job/past experience is quite well suited.
If successful i'd have to sell my car until on full salary, i've got a heavy right foot and 70-80 miles a day in a golf R32 would soon add up

12 weeks training up at Doncaster if successful I believe so don't rush to sell the R32! Very short application form so I guess they're sifting based on a small number of criteria, that is the only one that i'm worried about as my current job/past experience is quite well suited.

Indeed the application was short, no chance to write much about yourself. I agree they'll sift out what they want based on the boxes you ticked. They give you enough grilling in the interview to explain your life though!

Indeed, I just hope to get past this stage so I can put all of my effort into the process beyond just presenting facts about myself.Indeed the application was short, no chance to write much about yourself. I just hope that being fairly young (24 this month) with almost five years of shift work driving buses/coaches will be enough for them.
Long time no post, but, , , , started in May with DB. Finished the 10 weeks at Toton last week, did a 2 day conversion to the 60 on Monday/Tuesday, and started at Eastleigh on Thursday. Spent most of the day shunting in a 60. Amazing!!
Just need to crack on with the hours, get on full wage and order the new Scooby.
Should be fun, hopefully.
Good luck to anyone in the application pipeline, it'll be worth it in the end.

I'll add that I've applied too for a position at Crewe. I saw the advert linked through here so thank you for that
They have emailed me to say that they have received my application but it may take a little while before I hear what the next step is as they're anticipating 30 applications per vacancy!
If anyone can further assist me as to what I can expect going forwards, that would be much appreciated!

I'm a bit disappointed really, I live between York & Newcastle and both are just over an hours commute. I have looked at many different operators and there seems to be no-one operating from Middlesbrough or surrounding and perhaps only 1 from Darlington. If anyone knows anything to the contrary i'd be interested.
I completed forgot about this thread-started with FCC at the beginning of July, now three weeks in and loving it.
Done my PTS successfully and so far so good (touch wood!)-rode up front for the first time last week, which was epic!
It's intimidating how much here is to learn but our trainer is brilliant and reassures us that we'll all get there as long as (key thing!) we put the work in at home.
If anyone needs any help on what to expect on the recruitment process give me a shout.
