Passed my Rules exam today, relief is the biggest feeling!

Now a week off before moving on to traction.

Already work in the Railway and have applied for a train driver vacancy.
Fingers crossed.

Currently work at a busy station in the booking office selling tickets. I've applied for Liverpool Lime Street. Internal applications at the moment.

Good luck! Have you been through the assessment process? My actual interview with a DTM was only after I'd been to about three assessments!

I'm two weeks into traction now and loving it, a lot easier (for me) to digest than rules. Core traction are 313's, nothing like forty year old rolling stock (which to be fair everyone seems to like).

Haven't been to an assessment yet. If I do pass the interview tomorrow which is with a DTM then the assessment days start from next Monday in Doncaster, fingers crossed I get there. Have had a little go of the group bourdot online but not put hours in to it yet due to not knowing the outcome of the interview tomorrow.
Hopefully I am successful. Seems fascinating and it is exciting hearing of the people on here starting out biggrin

Strange way of doing it but I guess every TOC is different. Would have thought they'd put the assessments first as these have the highest failure rates.

Let us know how you get on.

Christ, i've heard they're horrible things! Ours lose interlock going through the wash and occasionally gap in the depot due to that hehe

455s however, now there's something to like!

Our depot is OLE so no problem there smile they're reasonably simple beasts so at least if you get an issue out and about it looks as though you have half a chance of solving it.

Got 317's, 321's and 365's to come, moving up in the world!

Passed my final rules today! Got a couple of check rides to do this week, but should be done by the end of the week. Then time to brick it, out on my own. Arghhh!

Which way around does your TOC do it? Mine goes Rules-Traction then only after passing those are you out with a DI. Once you've done your hours, you then submit for assessment & hopefully passing out by a DTM.

Unsuccesfull at progressing from the interview to the assessment day.
Was told in the interview there was only 1 vacancy. After I was told that I knew there was no chance redface

Sorry, did the classroom phase first, finished that in July. In that, we did traction and 25a first, then rules. Then off to our home depots to start driving. I had my first/final/proper rules exam on Monday, then an assessment drive on Tuesday, and another one on Wednesday to get some hours in the dark ( 3am start to Birmingham and back!).
Got my first solo drive tomorrow!!

Final traction written assessment next Friday. Doing OK, just making silly little errors like forgetting to write "Contact the signaller" before isolating a piece of DoTE...sigh!

At least I've got the processes and the rules related with them nailed, thinking positively smile

Yup, got the text too.

Glad it's all working out for everyone. Fgw do things a bit different lol.

I started in April. I won't be passing out till around June/July. Several reasons. 1) not enough DIs which means we've been doubling up.... And the fact we need to so 350 hours. Then again we do have loads of routes on our depot and they like our route knowledge to be that of a 30 year Ex Br link one driver.

Oh well get there in the end. Still it's all rosy I've driven a Hst boom.
Driving a HST was/is one of my childhood dreams, unfortunately I don't think I'll ever get to do it frown my Rules trainer was ex FGW, he seemed to really like it. Think he was a DI over there at one point.

Hopefully the DI situation won't be the same for us...we've got to complete a minimum of 250 hours, 50 in darkness. Our routes are shorter but we still have to learn Peterborough-King's Cross, Cambridge-King's Cross and the Hertford Loop-Moorgate. Do you FGW chaps have to learn every route FGW do? Or is it like East Coast where they split the route in half (at Newcastle apparently)?
