Original rate - 10% or leave early. Its summer, well almost, the GT2 is out of hibernation, the golf course looks awesome. No brainer smile
Definitely a good call.

I never managed to time my breaks quite so nicely although multiple ski trips were in order!

Think I need to get back to contracting!

First time for me that my breaks have coincided with the summer. 99.9% of the time they are usually during the winter.

Many have stayed though. Can't see the point myself. Its like you devalue yourself by accepting the cut.

Good choice! (assuming you're confident enough to get another contract at your original rate or higher...)

Kids aside, I don't know why so many people take holidays during summer, surely it's better to get away to somewhere warm while the weather is miserable in the UK and enjoy the (potentially) nice summers here?

I have always wondered whether anybody has negotiated a proposed reduction such as this by offering, say, a 9 day fortnight, or a 4 day week?

Cost saving for the end-client, potential (small) cut for the contractor but with the benefit of staying on current rate but working a 4 day week (assuming that suits)
