I've bought an official ITIL book. The learning starts today!

Try the knowledge academy based in aldgate. They were the cheapest when I did my ITIL a couple of years ago.

interested to see how this thread goes.

I have just started on the same tack myself, home study of v3.
It is seriously dull though, as mentioned previously

It is a framework of IT Service best practice that you adapt and adopt as required for your workplace. It's hardly going to be a Tom Clancy novel.... !

I've said it about a billion times, but the key thing ITIL gives is a common language. That is absolutely invaluable in my eyes.

Just to bring this back up - I've heard that it is a bit hit and miss using the Knowledge Academy. Does anyone have any experience of them?

You can do the Foundation self study no problem, buy a book and look for some practice tests. For the other modules you might want some proper training, but Foundation is just learning the terminology/processes. I just used the pocket guide for V2 foundation, although that was years ago.

I used sysop in Manchester for my ITIL V2 Managers and V3 Expert bridge, they were good.

I used The Knowledge Academy (course in Newcastle) for prince 2, again that was fine although as people have said the expect a fair bit of pre-reading for that one week combined Prince 2 Foundation/Practitioner course - that's probably not relevant to ITIL Foundation if you did decide to do the course instead of just reading the pocket guide through twice smile
