I’ve been looking for a role like this since I graduated! But all my experience with dynamometer testing and engine work is either project based uni work and some rolling road/ testing work I did on my undergraduate work placement

In short am I out of my league?

A little off topic but a few years ago when I worked for a Danish shipping company we ran an experiment with Lubrizol testing a new type of cylinder oil in our slow speed engines. We calibrated all of our liners and fitted all new piston rings then built a new cylinder lubrication system for units 1-4 to run on the Lubrizol oil and units 5-9 on the original cylinder oil. I never did hear the results as it was going to be run over a year - 18 months and I'd moved on to a different ship by then.

Sounds like an interesting job!

Marine trials are one of the many types of field trials that we do but this current role is working with internal engine test beds.

There would be plenty of scope to move in the future though and glad you found it interesting.

Sadly I don't have a degree and my area is fuel but I would of loved something along those lines.

Out of professional curiosity, what do you think of Joe Gibbs?
