I must admit, I tend to do the same (with an eye on how it will allow me to move on for more money after a few years) when considering places.

Jobs are a means to an end for most people. Not many people get to do what they love, no matter what they may tell you, I'd rather put up with it for another 20 years and retire at 50 or so having made my money than work to 65 because I love what I do and never want to leave.
