Because it's rubbish.

There is no officlal entitlement, it's down to your employer or terms of employment.
I know that... wink
I guessed that and it never ceases to amaze me the absolute rubbish that is written in some posts on PH.

My employers were fantastic throughout my mums whole battle with cancer. At the end of her fight I was off for 4 weeks followed by a week between her passing and the funeral then I had another couple of days after that. All on full pay. I think my contract says I'm allowed 3 days off for bereavement so they went well over this for me and I'm very grateful to them.

That's very good of them and sorry to hear about your mum frown

I wish I could be as generous, it's very difficult as the MD of a small company because we just don't have resource or finance to allow people to take that amount of time off.

Thanks mate.

I work in a department of only three people so for me to have the best part of 6 weeks it wasn't easy for the other two!
