The other advantage with LinkedIn is the recommendation side of things. When you're recruiting and you simply receive a list of CVs, you only have the data on there and the interview process to get an idea of the prospective candidate. However, if they have a LinkedIn profile with a few recommendations this can be more valuable than even their CV - which inevitably is a sales pitch. Having a recommendation from a CEO or other high level management is more valuable to me when recruiting than a polished looking CV.

I've had countless offers of an interview via LinkedIn, so from my experience, yes they do!

Hmm, should probably sort out my LinkedIn profile smile Wouldn't mind moving onto pastures new at some point and if the offers can come to me all the better.

frequently get messaged by recruiters on linkedin and on a pretty normal level wage, well I think I am but the recruiters seem to think my wage expectation is too high and nothing ever comes of it.

I was contacted by a recruiter on linked in. It went all the way to a job offer with a 30% salary increase.

In answer to the question. Yes. Linkedin is used heavily by recruiters.

yes I never apply for jobs - they come to me, usually via LinkedIn and I have a very basic profile on there.
That's good! What industry are you in? Interesting that you get a lot of hits even with a basic profile. I have a fairly full profile and have hardly had any profile views or contact from recruiters, even though i'm looking for a job...
Finance in London - I assume it's probably slightly different outside London and in different industries though.

I have found my last 2 positions via LinkedIn

Postings on specific forums by managers not in-house or external recruiters

LinkedIn is becoming like facebook - lots of postings of nothing

I get contacted by recruitment consultants via LinkedIn several times a week and they are generally much better matches to my skills and salary expectations than the blanket emails and random phone messages of other recruitment agencies. The only problems is they are nearly always in F***ing London.

I agree with the sentiment of joining LinkedIn groups for appropriate skills and commercial sectors.

I've got a pretty comprehensive profile on LinkedIN and I pay for premium too (£20 a month). Within a week, I got a job offer but it was wrong location and wrong industry. It was for an Aircraft Electrician on Helicopters down south, whereas I'm after a change. Had nothing really from Wind/Oil and Gas interest.

That is what I have always wondered, if the recruiter's search picks you up via a job title search of your current job title/industry your in or from skills you've stated on there, or think, i know, I'll look for someone from this industry that will be suitable?

I'm military, but i'm leaving and trying to go into Wind Power. I signed up to the wind power groups etc, Siemens Energy etc and have connected with company based recruiters and just play the waiting game. I try and get into discussions where possible.

I got my current role via a recommendation and direct approach via linkedin. I also get contacted by speculative recruiters on a regular (2-3 times a month) basis, I'll talk if they have something interesting/different to offer.

I get contacted regularly for positions in a role which I left 3 years ago and have no desire to go back to! As above, yes people use it, no they don't always read the bits that are relevant! frown

Is the Premium version worth the extra £20 per month?

I had it whilst I was actively job hunting and I would say yes. Compared to getting a higher salary or finding a job it's a tiny investment. In normal circumstances I can't see that it adds much.

Companies now seem to be using it as means to bypass the recruitment consultants as my current role I was approached by them direct and that is a large global organisation on the NYSE.

Why pay 10% of the salary when you can have the same tools they use for £20 a month.

Doesn't work for me and I been on there for 14 months, but more than likely to do with the type of work I do.

Do you use it to promote your business? As you can set up company site and post picks of your quality produce, butchery skills or xmas order form to your followers who may choose to share it with theirs.

Yes they do use it, a LOT. Almost to the point where I wonder what other use it could have.

I would imagine I get approached daily on average. Most of it utter rubbish mind you.

I've found Linkedin pretty handy. I'm not on FB as I don't want the hassle! So it's been great for getting back in touch with ex army mates and blokes I've lost touch with in work, been great getting back in touch with old friends.

Haven't spoke to some in 15 years since they got out!

Job wise I've sorted a few guys out looking to get into this game, pretty hard to get a foot in the door so Linkedin's meant they've been able to contact the right companies & get work with a decent firm smile Also had a few companies email for interview/availability smile

Does anybody use Linkedin Premium Professional? Any good?
I think you've got that the wrong way round. IE, you are using LinkedIn in the same way that most people use Facebook! However, who am I to argue if it works for you.

I liked the way LinkedIn started, but I've watched it follow the facebook route over the the years. IE status updates, photos and similar.

Did when I had my shop ,but now hoping for management position in the production sector.
Unfortunately this seems few and far between.
