You may have seen a thread in the finance section, where my P11D had an addition for approx 3000 pounds for an incentive trip (for exceeding targets).

The trip was in January and was to compensate for the calendar year 2013, when I was an employee. I left in April 2014, and in Sept 2014 employees were given a bonus to compensate for the addition of the item on the P11D, and hence a large tax bill.

Do I have any claim to this bonus?

Doesn't sound like it was within the normal contract terms and was very likely discretionary. It may well be worth a letter to the company to enquire, but I think you may be out of luck on this one

If contractually the company committed that it would bear the tax so you weren't disadvantaged for receiving the benefit, then I'd say yes. (And even if not, still worth a polite mail, perhaps)

What was the agreement at the time?

There was no agreement in place because there was no expectation of the tax burden. Previous incentive trips for the 2 years before had not been added to the P11D.

Hmmm, seems harsh. Even HMRC expects the employer to foot it:
