At a guess, I'd say that is the difference. Has she done anything else before teaching? Edit: I would like to guess the pressure changes too - seeing some of the more experienced secondary subject teachers, they seem to be able to pluck a lesson out of thin air, with minimal prep.

Tell her to go for it,think of the long holidays instead & pension as well.
