Hi guys,

I have a 4.5 hour recruitment process coming up this week;

It goes as follows:

1- Talent Q questionnaire

2- A case study exercise

3- In depth discussion with a HAY Assessor

4- A review meeting to discuss the case study exercise

All materials are to be provided on the day. The job in question is finance orientated.

Apart from my own research, does anyone have any tips? Has anyone here gone through a similar process?

I seem a bit unsure about point three, I assume it will be competency based...

Thanks

These seem to be quite common nowadays for senior finance roles. I had one for my current role. There was a 40 minute online psychometric test and then an Assessment Centre which followed the same steps as yours. There was a roleplay as well about dealing with a staff performance mgmt issue. It was good. I enjoyed it overall. I don't think you can prepare for it - just be your natural self and hope that's what they're looking for.

Re: point 3 - my assessor went through the results of the psych test just to explore things in more detail. Again I would suggest just to be yourself - its too difficult to pretend to be something you're not as they ask the same question. Umpteen different ways smile

I'd concur with the above - much better to be yourself and avoid trying to rehearse 'being you'. If you go into the assessment at any of the four stages with that mentality, then it can add to feelings of stress or worry!

Been through a similar process for my job in a utility company, and the key for me there was to research the company and methods that'd form part of the daily role. I'm assuming you've already done this however!

Another one agreeing with Countdown.

You could get yourself into a proper tangle trying to play those psychometric tests to your advantage so just being honest is the only way.

If you don't play it straight I would expect to be found out in step 3 as I imagine that's what the discussion is about.
