Leaving the Civil Service
Discussion
Im feeling like this at the moment, stuck in a role that i really don't want to be doing in the Civil Service after the department re-structed last year and implementing targets that are a struggle to meet. Been in the Civil Service over 10 years and not sure if skill set is even applicable to work in the private sector having been in Immigration for a good part of those 10 years....any advice would also be welcomed
I left after 11 years (shared over 2 departments, and I'd done 7 different roles through promotions and secondments).
I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, and actually, it took me nearly 2 years to find something good enough to make me want to actually do the deed and leave.
I'd been thinking about it for probably 3 years, and then it was all about finding an appropriate role in an organisation that suitably enthused me. I turned down several 'great on paper' jobs where I just didn't feel excited about the new organisation.
Happy to chat via PM/EMail for more details.
