To get a non-compete clause in a contract cancelled when moving to a client, is an email sufficient?

Depends who the email is from, and what it says.

What manner of magical email might it be that could "cancel" a contract term? What manner of magical PH post might it be that could answer the OP's question without any information as to the contract term in question or the surrounding circumstances?

OP, ante up!

The clause in your contract will most likely describe the context of you potentially moving to a competing firm.

In moving to the client, they are unlikely to be a competing firm and would thus nullify that clause without the need for any confirmation.

But, you've asked the question which suggests that there is indeed an element of competitive trade so as others have said, more detail required.

Yes, 100% sufficient for my needs, where would you like me to send it?

It appears that the unfathomable mystery of this thread will not be resolved.
