Current role is 6 years, however I did my PhD at this place too for 3 years beforehand. I was employed elsewhere between finishing that and rejoining as a member of staff. They have promoted me twice in that time and I enjoy the role, so can see myself staying for quite a while.

My shortest role was 2 hours. I was waiting for security clearance for an agency job and the agency gave me a job in a chair making factory for a week whilst I waited. A mate from school was there too from the agency (we were both back home from uni) and so as were in neighbouring bays we would talk whilst spraying glue onto a wooden board (for the foam to stick to). The owner took umbrage at this and sent my mate home before telling me (and I quote) "just get on with your fking job". My response was "na, sod it" and walked out.

Then 1.5 so far and getting itchy feet.

Cant seem to stick things out in a firm. I leave hoping for wonderful things but get nothing. The fact i got a pay rise with each new job may be a factor. I admire you long time serving types, hope the companies appreciate you.

Getting on for 10 years now. Not planning on moving any time soon, although the management and their idiotic "initiatives" are doing their utmost to ruin a good job...

Current job is also my longest stint at an employer. 6 and a half years. Beats my record by about 6 months. My second longest job was actually my first proper job back in 1991!

Every other job in between was anything from a year to 3 or 4 years. It was common in my line of work at the time to change employer frequently. Alot of jobs were word of mouth and sometimes the only way to get a pay rise was to move on. Also there were a few company closures that cut potential employment terms short.

No plans to move on at present, feel I've done enough of this in the past.

Just passed three years. Spent four years at my last job, part time while at uni.
