It appears that the average length of time to stay with one employer is around 8 years. I've just past my 18th "anniversary" (25 if I count 7 years I did at a different site).

Shortest job - 2 days (through an agency at a company that didn't know it's a*** from it's elbow).

What's your record?

8 years in the last job (so bang on what you've stated) and now into my 4th year at the current place.

4 years next week, 4 years before that and a real mixed bag before due to working seasons in France.

I fancy a change now, a 4 year itch?

17 years and counting.

Mainframe IT techie - there are very few new openings in my field, so those with decent paying jobs are all sitting tight.

Some are quite lengthy for IT dev. Usually only stay 2 years, then onwards for a pay raise

Same job since leaving Uni (and a 1 year industrial placement before that), 21 years anniversary just passsed!

I've often thought that I should have moved on but the work has generally been varied, interesting, close to leading edge, and the pay is competitive. In fact I'm now at the point where I'd struggle to find anything to match my salary and benefits package on the open market.

Whilst I'm effectively in the same job we were spun out from the parent company some years ago, then sold to an American company, who were then in turn bought be a much larger American company so a few changes of employer. The parent company still exists and is in the hands of a different American company.

Job 1: 4 years left as needed to broaden my experience
Job 2: 4 years left as got fed up of being at risk of redundancy, and changes in management, all who changed what had just been put in place
Job 3: 3 years made redundant
Job 4: 6 years - still here, but getting itchy feet

Longest for me is 2 1/2 years. Current job I've only been in for 10 months and I leave next week.

I think I've got commitment issues.

17 years!

But we have new projects every 9 to 18 months, which are an interesting mix of technical and hands on, and every day is different.
