Thanks for reading.

I handed in my notice late last night to my current employer. I have been there for about 14 months and the job is in the civil service sector working in defence. all in all, i have been in the defence secotr as a civil servant since december 2011. I joined too late for the gold plated pensions....
It has been good, but i have happier memories of working in the corporate sector about 15 years ago. I missed the challenge and pressure of a corporate company as well as the rewards.

I will now start a new post in the financial sector working as a project manager for a large building society at their HQ.

The finance industry in the UK is one of our areas of expertise right? This is a growing field with lots of opportunity.

Tell me I did the right thing......

I left the public sector and went private, haven't looked back (Quantity Surveying.)

Hope that helps smile

Thanks for the reply iphonedyou. Its an odd time, I have done everything i can to make this easier for my current employer, my contract states that i need to give four weeks of notice, and I have given almost seven weeks.

I was getting cold feet - the public sector is slower paced than corporate and i miss that.

Thanks for the help! Anyone else?

Thanks angusfaldo - a very well written piece of advise there. I guessed that the CS sector might be a bit of a twighlight zone and it will be a startle when i step back into the real world.

I am always as humble as I can be in the first few months of joining a new place. I dont want to get any ones back up.

Thanks for the kind wishes. My wife told me that you dont get the big bucks for sitting around drinking coffee!
