Paternity and handing in notice
Discussion
We have our first due in early December and I am looking to change jobs. I understand my notice period (which is 3 months - not ideal - any advice on reducing that would also be appreciated!)
I have filled in the appropriate paternity leave forms well in advance, so thats all in and formal, but if I hand my notice in the next week or so, can the business take away my paternity leave? Is there any law

Check with someone qualified but I don't think paternity leave cannot be taken away just because you are in your notice period. They can however pay you at the statutory rate rather than your full salary.
Regarding 3 months notice, if they needed to make your role redundant, wouldn't you like the security of 3 months salary, or would you like them to reduce what they owe ? It does work both ways and most people are aware of it when taking a job. Decent employers will accept that they will need to wait for good candidates.
