Just had to sign up with yet another blood sucking payment company, all my details including a copy of my passport in yet another strangers hands for them to do with as they wish.

I was also informed that we (agency workers) are being forced into starting as a Ltd company as the government is stopping us being able to claim expenses as of this coming April.

Wont the government look great in the press telling the world how many more companies have set up this year. Actually it is all just a con. Am I correct in saying that getting paid hourly and having to report to someone on site means that I am not really classed as being self-employed.

What's the problem with working through your own company?

Everybody I come across found the previous CIS scheme worked just fine.

Save up your receipts over the year and get a friendly accountant to sort through them and present you with a nice cheque at the end.

Why did they do away with that?

I don't want to be forced to be a Ltd company, I don't want to be forced to take out public liability insurance etc etc.
Anything for an easy life, just turn up at work do my job and go home.

Yes - if you don't want teh hassle of looking after your own affairs - then just do what most people HAVE to do, be an employee.

Of course, HMRC will always argue that there is never a choice in these matters. The FACTS determine whether you are an employee or not.

Of course, even if you went Limited and that bit of your post meant you were IR35 caught you wouldn't be claiming relief on your expenses then, either.

It is so easy isn't it, just like that, sorted, thanks, I never thought of that. So if I go and work for someone they will take care of everything.rolleyes

All the decent companies in my line of work are getting rid of men left right and centre and becoming management only, hiring and firing as and when they need people. Fully skilled men with 15+ years service, thanks, bye don't need you any more. (Speaking to one last week).

Yes it is easy isn't it.
