There's a lot of scaremongering in this thread, as per. There was an entire LinkedIn group of cleared people and it had zero affect in the long run.

Yes you need to be discreet. But the reality is all they're looking for is that you can be trusted and not black mailed. If you like to insert inanimate objects into your orifices, that's fine, but don't hide that from your partner. Don't make your job and item of casual conversation, but don't create some elaborate lie instead.

OP, look into the major contractors. Northrop Grumman, GE, Atkins etc etc. Anything that advertises near the donut is likely to be moderately interesting.
That pretty much it. Don't hide your past, and if you get recruited then don't talk about work.

This is not true. I am aware of more than one individual who has experienced repercussions from being in such public groups.

Always found it odd that they complain about people saying they have clearance in public, yet GHCQ/CESG advertise loads of services where they mandate the staff must have SC (CHECK, CLAS, etc).

Jobserve and similar would be good for finding jobs in the donut, look for cleared ones around Cheltenham with the usual big suppliers. You could have a look at the companies appearing on http://www.governmentcomputing.com/ if you're not sure which companies those might be, tends to be the same core bunch supplying govt. Although a lot of the jobs would be advertised via another agency rather than the actual supplier

The point is that if you declare that you have it on LinkedIn, etc, you are providing more information than is needed. You are stating publicly that you potentially have access to certain information and providing a profile for a potential "bad actor" to either emulate them to gain access - or to befriend them to gain additional information.
