Hi- simple one this. I'm riding this route, 130 miles - this weekend with another 7 people. Actually to raise some charity money.

Now this route is on my doorstep as I live in Bingley, so I won't start at Skipton and do the 130 miles- but from home and I guess we'll clock 150 miles or a shade more.

Now I've cycled this before- about 12/14 years ago and did it anti clockwise. This time, I figure I'm doing it clockwise as all the routes/info seems to suggest its the best way.

Is there any pro-con to going in either direction ? to be fair it has 15,000' of climbing regardless, but it might be more about sheer steepness of climbs v long slogs. i.e. the slog from ingleton to dent is a monster- eg I find going straight up out of dent a lot easier and just getting a climb done.

This is my neck of the woods for cycling and most Sundays I'm getting some miles in around the Dales anyway, so I'm not exactly going to be shocked about the route and hills- although clearly I don't do such distances or go as far out from home- I'm more between 40-60 miles in a morning loop.

unfortunately it looks like terrible weather- wish me luck !
