Went on to Jobserve yesterday (contract coming to an end)
See a job posted 30 minutes ago. Right up my street and in my neck of the woods.

Immediately get on the blower and speak to agent. Agent sounds coy. Asks me why I am applying for such a contract on such a low rate. The rate is actually within the normal acceptable window (might be a right royal f*ckup on his part). Agent doesn't want to speak now (some do some don't)

Anyway get email address from him and send my CV. Then I jump back on to Jobserve to check for others. Notice that the advert has gone along with another from the same agent for some other technical requirement. Now it smells fishy!

I Google Agency - turns out not to be an agency but one of those Indian Companies along the lines of Cognizant, Wipro etc.

So I put 2 and 2 together and come up with:

"Post job for 30 minutes hoping no one applies then go to Home Office to get Work Permit for Indian Worker"

I know my p**s is boiling and I may be way off the mark but my hunches are usually correct.

What can I do about this since I seriously want to put the boot into this practice.

How would India like it if a bunch of Chinese started taking their jobs from them just because they were cheaper. Now to be a fly on the wall when that happens (Harry Hill "Fight Scene").

Now before anyone comes on here and accuses me of xenophobia I have to say that I was born in India and am brown skinned.

A 30 minutes live ad isn't anywhere near sufficient for a visa case like you describe.

What if you post it for 30 minutes a day, every day for a month?

I'm not a work permit process expert but you have to show that you have advertised on the guideline mediums for specific amounts of time. This is checked as part of the application process for the sponsored visa.
