Thank you all very much, I really appreciate the feedback it is exactly what I was after and yes apologies for the poorly layed out original post. My bad.

If ever I needed to get my CV updated, and from what I've seen on several other posts I've read on here rog007 would always be my first port of call wavey
Lots of food for thought here, I think I have a good ideas in my own mind now of what I'm worth. Yes they are a family that could comfortably afford it, without batting an eyelid. They are however a very successful business family for a reason and I have no intention of ripping them off, but for what I do and the effort I put in I'd like to think I may be worth a little more than market value? We'll see eh?

I have a figure I need now, I'll go in a bit above that as 1 thing this post has taught me, is don't under sell yourself and always go in higher rather than lower, much better for negotiating the long term deal smile At the end of the day it will boil down to a simple yes or no I guess.

I'll let you all know how it went if interested when I know myself. Based on the last couple of years I'm due a decent change of luck. I'm off to Austria in the morning to do a little 3 day job on the Formula 1 circus and I return to the chauffeuring job on Thursday so should see the 'money' man shortly after that.

To all those that refuse CBA to read the post frown it's actually very interesting.
Indeed.

Sorry if more than 5 sentences taxes your grey matter, but sometimes details are important.

If you genuinely CBA to read it, then move on and dont be disrespectfull to someone who is asking advice and supplying important details.

Just remember that these are real people you are dissing.

Ph gets worse by day.

I would say no more than £3.75 per lb. Maybe more if filleted.

I don't have much to say but just 2 things I've gleaned from working with UHNW clients.

Trust is key. Don't loose it by pricing too high. They may assume you're trying to take advantage.

Whatever they end up paying you will be a negligible amount to them.

Try not to worry about it. If the going rate is 50k maybe add 25% for no learning in the role and extra responsibilities and then an extra 5-10% for negotiations.

Good luck!

You really shouldn't think of it that way, you will still be working harder than any of them to earn in a year what they might make in a few days.

None of the figures that have been suggested on this thread seem excessive given the hours and other requirements that they have and the level of service you can offer.

75k seems entirely reasonable and I'd also request an additional member of staff to reduce your workload. It sounds like you'd be a manager as well as a driver which would justify the salary in London.

The job isn't London based - it involves trips into London to some properties

The main property/house/estate is well outside of London.

Perhaps 40-50k given the long hours. It's fundamentally still an unskilled job that requires no academic qualifications.

Chilli, a mate runs a chauffeur business with one particular client requiring him to drive their car doing very similar duties you describe. He charges £25 per hour. They happily pay it.
Edit to add, client is a British citizen.

£25/hr with 50-80 hrs/week = £65k - 104k. I'm sticking to my original £75k figure as being reasonable.

OP, I gather you are not currently salaried, can you give an indication of your current hourly rate?

You're confusing does not require qualifications with unskilled and easily replaceable.

Correct, there is far more to becoming an extension of a family and everything it entails to simply being a glorified mini cab driver- the OP's situation is the former.

The £25 p/h is an invoice rate and takes account of the fact it's not a full time role but a client/supplier relationship on an as and when basis. I think your suggestion is about right.

Treat it as a standard negotiation. Come up with three figures / positions....

1) Your absolute winner position for you - so lets say 70k
2) The amount you actually want - so lets say 60k
3) Your minimum below which you would say no - so lets say 50k as this is a good rate for the work

Make it clear you want the role and put position 1 on the table as your opening gambit working back to position 2. If it goes beyond position 3 consider your position and walk away if you wish.

crackpot ?

Nope - these positions go on trust and experience. if they like you and dont want to lose you then they will pay up. south east has a number of discrete high networth family units that dont want fuss or having to go through the motions of finding another trusted staff member. If you have been doing this and they respect you then I do think 60 to 75k is a realistic sum. But they will own you, and they will have expectation that you will drop everything and run at the snap of a finger.

Talk to the money man - he will guide, and you will get some feedback there.

Have you ever dealt with the seriously, and I mean seriously wealthy? Money isn't as important as the right person. And they will pay to get what they want.
