I'm starting a new job tomorrow in a car main dealership (albeit quite family run and friendly) and wanted some advice for my first day...this is the first time I have worked for someone I don't know and really want to make a great first impression.

Any advice would be greatly received, thank you!

Say hello to everyone

Introduce yourself

Remember names

Make conversation

Don't stand around with your hands in your pockets

Don't be ready to leave at 5.29, make a good impression

Shown interest in what's happening

Listen

Offer to make tea

Be confident

Be there early (but not too early)

Don't be too noisy/chatty/boisterous

What's your role btw?

Remember names
I recently started a new job, I have terrible face blindness and this is a real challenge, horrible experience!

If you can't remember names, say 'I'm really sorry, I've forgotten your name' then remember it hehe

My role is a Service Advisor, so I'm basically the person you speak to on the service desk

I've been in the motor trade since leaving school, doing mechanics and sales (I'm now 21) and wanted to get into a main dealership.

Thanks for the advice, really want this to go well!

Service advisors need to get on with everyone really. When you get a chance, introduce yourself to the technicians and the sales guys too.

If you're not great at remembering stuff, write it down, it annoys the st out of me when people forget simple information when they could have just written it down.

You'll be fine. Good luck.

I remember the names, but I don't recognise the face that goes with the name!

Shake their hands so hard you can hear bones cracking while looking them directly in the eye saying "I'm the daddy now" in your best Ray Winstone voice.

Shows you're not a messer and they'll respect you for it.

Shouldn't it be spelt 'adviser'?
