Is anyone going to Carfest North this year?
This will be my 5th time 4 of these camping for the weekend.
I find it the most chilled out few days.

The music line up is good this year as always but I'm mot sure about the cars. For the last 3 years at Oulton park I have enjoyed the fact that you can see the cars without having to cram up at a strip. I'll see how it goes.

Love the mix of cars music food and drink.

I'll be there, with the Sporting Bears Dream Rides.

Come and have a ride in an Atom, or a Lambo, or a model T Ford, or ...

and I'm glad there's no rave tent.

2nd time for us. Thoroughly enjoyed it last year and were quick to book tickets again.
Really good family event.
Early start Friday!

That's what makes the event good, a relaxed atmosphere I just get annoyed with the ticket sales, there really must be a better system.

The Sporting Bears are amazing. My 9 year old has been in a 360 and an Atom.

These guys give themselves cars an fuel for charity and make little boys dreams come true for a modest donation.

Hats off to you guys I wish I had a worthy car at the moment.

Not sure why a real petrolhead would prioritise this over Silverstone Classic to be honest.

We're there on the Saturday with the kids, really looking forward to it.

We're camping a couple of miles down the road. For those who've been there before - what time do the roads around the event become Armageddon on Friday as we'll likely get caught up in the traffic? I realise it's a different location but I guess the time everyone arrives will remain the same.

Have to agree with the 'crap' comment. I went today and was rather taken aback by the lack of cars, the very, very narrow track and wondered what the point was from a car PoV.

Still we all enjoyed the fun fair so that was ok.

Won't be returning.

should be renamed foodfest, certainly not carfest.

I went yesterday and as someone with 2 small children on a family day out thought it was decent, especially if you're in to food too, but if you went only for the cars you'd be very disappointed. For me they were a bonus on a family day out but I also commented that it shouldn't really be called Carfest anymore. Buemi did a great job entertaining the crowd with the awesome sounding 2011 Red Bull F1 car and there were some other notable drivers giving it plenty such as the Triumph Dolomite rally car and MK2 Jag touring car with the 'BUY 1' plate. Shame the ex Schumacher Bennetton F1 car was going so slowly as it sounds incredible, don't know how much that was down to the 'track' but I've never seen it being driven fast at other events either. The static car displays were very poor and I joked to my wife that my car collection would have made a better display. I didn't see the paddock open at all which was a shame although I got the impression that it was late in the afternoon immediately after the track closed. Must have been a small window though as it was closed again when we got there at 6pm.

It's expensive but as a lot of the cost goes to charity you can kind of overlook that. I thought it was better at Oulton the last 2 years but I'd go again next year. Don't bother if you're only going for the cars though. I think it said a lot that most of the car manufacturers had family cars and SUVs on their stands, nothing very interesting at all although it was good to see the new Maserati Levante and Alfa Guilia in the metal.

We went to Oulton Park last year and unfortunately witnessed the Gnat crash so kinda felt compelled to go again this year to have a better day. I had found last year lacking cars but didn't know if that was down to the day itself, it did rain too.

Thoughts on this year, not enough cars both on track and to gawp at, track was too tight and viewing it was difficult...fair play to the guy who installed it at his own cost though, £100k apparently.

A lady was stopping cars on the start line to do interviews, really, who cares?! This lead to gaps in the driving, just send the cars down the track!

We couldn't get anywhere near the main stage and I missed oggling Andrea Corr frown didn't think the sound was great either. Bit gutted they put Kaiser Chiefs on last too, having arrived at 0930 we were knackered by the time they came on and we left halfway through in order to get out of the car park.

Laysac must have made a fortune!

Overall it's not a bad day out as such, I've had better 'car' days though. Would I go on again, doubt it.

Oh and parents, control your kids FFS! Watching your kid draw in the dust on a LaFerrari is not acceptable!!!

Carfest South is coming up at the end of the month - I will be there doing rides with the Sporting Bears too

Let's hope that we don't get as closely acquainted with the unmarked cars of Hampshire police as was the case last year....
