Has anyone been able to replace service book after losing it?

Worst case scenario, but my BMW leather folder may have been misplaced and thrown out. This contained my service book which contained service info and stamps from BMW and also my local garage.

Is there a way of getting a new book and following up with BMW for service records? Likely to be costy?

I'm gutted!

Was it all at the same dealer? They might re-issue invoices etc for you, and have records of servicing.

Modern bmw? Should all be stored on the key. Could go to any dealer and ask for a key read and a print out.

Most BMW dealers keep electronic records of the work carried out to the car and should be able to print out copies on invoices etc. If you were a good customer and explain the situation they may also be willing to stamp a new book too if they were the ones to do the work. Same goes for the independent too.

As a prospective purchaser I would much prefer to see piles of receipts instead of just a stamped book as they are easily forged. Last BMW I bought had just that, but called the BMW dealers and they confirmed all the work carried out and of additional work that was done but not service related to.

Good luck, these unfortunate things sometimes happen

When I bought my 1-series from a well known giant car supermarket, it had no service book, but I was able to contact the lease company who previously owned it who provided me with some details of the BMW dealers it had visited (both unfortunately 250 miles away). I then just rang them up, explained the situation and they were very helpful and happy to tell me all the details (date, mileage, work carried out, etc) and confirmed they would stamp a replacement service book if I visited them.

I looked into getting a replacement service book, but the cost was fairly steep and I decided it wasn't worth it. The amount I lost at trade in because of it was less than it would have cost me to replace and get it stamped but that was helped by the fact the car was 8 years old with just shy of 100k miles on it wink

The search continues but I have ordered a new book from BMW. Hoping the service details are stored on the key!

Eugh well I collected my new service book today from the local BMW dealership, and they confirmed that service details were only stores on the key from the F30 series onwards.

Thankfully they found details (milage) of previous services held at Halliwell Jones in Warrington so it will be posted out to them first thing tomorrow morning, along with the £50 they want for stamping it.

On a sidenote my private plates came off today, all in preperation for her sale/part exchange!

Mine is stored on the key on my 2009 E90. They read it in front of me and showed me the screen that explained what is due when....

I once bought a Subaru which had a missing service history book but all the invoices stranegly.....

All were completed a local dealer who supplied a new book (£15 IIRC) and stamped it all up accordingly.

When I came to sell the car, the buyer noticed the writing was all in the same pen and style, and I had to explain but could also back up with invoices so was all fine.

How is that legal? Surely the manufacturers also have access to ebay?!
