Any Linked In gurus on here? I might be job hunting in the near future so wanting to get my profile looking good.

I've done a lot of on site consultancy/support work for other companies as an employee of my current company, sometimes as long as 9 months on the customer site. Would you put the offsite companies as a separate experience block, or cover them all within the block for my current company?

Approach it as you would with any other marketing opportunity; advertise your product (you) but be succinct (like the best brochures).

But as an engineer I have very little experience of marketing. I always feel there's a fine line between sounding competent and sounding like a braggart you wouldn't want to employ.

Don't be timid/modest -sing your own praises loud and clear! Only thing I'd say is be a bit careful with the formatting when you are listing the individual assignments etc or it could make it look like you've been job hopping. eg inset/bullet point the assignments or even use the word 'assignment' or 'project' to make it abundantly clear these weren't separate jobs. Also, play the SEO game and try to incorporate whatever buzzwords/variations on tech skills/job titles etc that a recruiter might try to use to find someone with your background.

PM me if you would like assistance on the CV/job hunt/etc - I'm a CEng MIET myself and run specialist Engineering Recruitment Consultancy -can't guarantee we can help (we're mainly electronics, embedded software, mechanical design and science such as physics/chemistry/materials etc) but we might be able to point you in the right direction.
