When you say level 3 I assume you mean BTEC level 3?

Most franchised dealers are crying out for trained staff.
Get registered on all the motor trade recruitment website and start writing letters directly to the Dealer Principle at all the local dealers.

Was in that situation myself a few years ago. I hate to say it but I never found the job I wanted, I ended up going back to college to do a HND (and hoping to go on to do a degree so I can move overseas for work). My advice would be apply for EVERYTHING initially, slogging about in a supermarket is better than sitting on your ass even if the work is monotonous and depressing. Once you have your foot in the door somewhere apply for jobs that you would 'like', and be prepared for a lot of knockbacks, the UK job market is a joke at the moment for younger inexperienced people.

I know this is not necasserily what he wants to hear but its the truth right now.

Didn't the college provide any support with this? Most I have contact with have quite robust and well developed links with local industries. Good for the college as they can quote how many students find work and good for employers as they have a steady stream of talent.

The college was very good at training but very poor at trying to locate jobs.
