Hi guys,

My wife recently lost her job where she had been for just under a month. She found a new job quickly but on her cv and at interview stage she didnt see the need to tell the interviewer about her last job. This is due to reputation of the company potentially giving her a bad name.

Now she needs to give her new employer her p45 but it will show her last employer on it. Can she say she lost the p45 and fill in a p46 instead?

She doesnt want this to come out later down the line. So if she sends of a p46 to HMRC will her new employer be informed of her last employer?

She did not earn enough to pay tax and will not in this job either.

She regrets not saying about the previous job but as it was such a short time she did not feel the need.

Is it best just to tell them about it now? Or not bother?

Cheers!

I done this a few times. I just say I lost my p45. Don't worry about it, forget about it and move on. People don't care.

Just ignore it. Unless its the same person interviewing doing the payroll it won't even register. And if it does? What's the fall out. Not mentioned someone she worked for, for a matter of weeks?

She's under no obligation to hand over her P45. As an employer we actively seek to never take them and always ask for P46 equivalent instead.
