Nokia Lumia 630 which I got last year. Had the choice of it or a horrible cheap Samsung Android thing.
Does the job fine (i.e. makes phone calls and can get Exchange email). I wouldn't want one for personal usage, no apps on Windows Phone, but fine for work and the battery life is better than most other smart phones too.

Crappy windows phone, but until I blagged it recently I had some kind of "unbreakable" Samsung dumb phone, which I broke three of.

I see this has been moved.

I'd have loved opinions from anyone/everyone who comes here, so The Lounge seemed a good place to achieve that.

As it is I guess someone has spotted the word "employer" so off it goes to the "Jobs" forum, because everyone on PistonHeads goes there, right?

Any chance it could be moved back please? smile

Nokia 1280. Must be worth at least five quid!

No smartphones allowed.

Work have kindly provided me with a Nokia 520.

I fking hate it with a passion, to the point where I'm contemplating buying a cheap Android phone to replace it.

I'd rather use a telegraph than Windows Mobile.

Government organisation.
Provide me with a iPhone 5C. Its utterly useless due to the size and memory as we use Salesforce1 app.

I work in the IT department and am working on convincing the director to upgrade us to iPhone 6 or 7.

UK folks are provided with Windows phones. US folks have a choice of an iPhone or Windows Phone. I was given a Win phone 3 years ago upon rejoining the company, accidently dropped it (not nefariously) and broke the screen within a week, chopped up the SIM and placed in my personal iPhone and have used this ever since. We have no MDM solution or documented policy in place that restricts the use of a personal device with corporate SIM.

I've got a windows phone (Lumia650?) it's st, needs a factory reset every couple of weeks. Had a Samsung at the last firm, that was worse then they replaces them with Huaweis and they were actually quite good. They are no iPhones though!

Been given a Samsung Galaxy Ace 4 with an obliterated screen, as the previous guy wrecked it. It is currently awaiting replacement and is crudely sellotaped back together. It accepts calls and can make calls so it is good enough for me!

Windows phone - I suppose because it syncs to Office 365, but the layout is horrible.

Windows phone. We were going down the Apple route at one point for the new phone/tablet/laptop we got issued on the latest wave of IT kit replacements but it was decided the security was not sufficient on the Apple devices to meet company standards

As an employer, I can offer an alternate viewpoint. This question feels like a very last-century view/issue.

We offer a choice:

  • Use your own phone, for which we will pay any reasonable expenses. This also allows you work anywhere, flex-time and all the perks of working in the 21st century.
  • Nothing. Whatsoever.
What else might you expect your employer to provide? Perhaps tissues, or shoe leather, a watch, ink for your pen? It's almost 2017 FFS!

Shoes other than my work boots would be pushing it I suspect but I do get a clothing allowance & my dry cleaning paid for. They also buy my stationary so pen ink is covered too, so yes I expect my employer to cover all reasonable work related expenses if they are necessary for me to complete my job quickly & effectively.

iPhone 5s with unlimited free personal calls & data (UK only).... good phone (...that's too small) from excellent employer :-)

I still keep a personal phone tho... like to separate work from home, plus keeps me somewhat away from work issues at weekends as I'd keep peeking at emails otherwise.
